The start of the year is the most popular time for couples separating. It’s probably the stress of Christmas and spending lots of time with the family!

So, if you or anyone you know is separating or going through a divorce, have you thought about what happens to your Will, and what will pass on to your children or preferred beneficiaries?

If you have a Will, you have probably nominated your spouse as both executor and beneficiary. If you don’t have a Will, your spouse will still be entitled to inherit if you separate. Even if you have agreed a financial settlement everything could just pass right back to your estranged spouse. It could also be that nothing passes on to your children. I’m sure that you would not wish that to happen.
